The Grand Prairie Public Library Dallas honored Cynthia Salzman Mondell for her body of work and impact on the Texas Motion Picture Industry at the Annual Lois Weber Film Festival. This is the first time a filmmaker will received The Lois Weber Award. Cynthia screened her award-winning movie THE LADIES ROOM.Lois Weber is the most important female director and highest paid film director of the silent era. She rose above the usual Hollywood “boys’ club” glass ceiling with films that told stories with such social issues as corruption, politics, birth control, abortion and capital punishment.” Cynthia may be channeling her “sole”. Lois Weber’s hour-long 1916 feature SHOES was a hit. Cynthia was honored to be recognized in such great company.
