The Monster Among Us
BY
ALLEN MONDELL & CYNTHIA SALZMAN MONDELL
The Monster Among Us is Media Projects' film about the alarming rise of anti-Semitism in Europe.
The film includes excerpts from almost 200 hours of footage shot in Germany, Hungary, France, England, Holland and Belgium.
Anti-Semitism has surfaced on university campuses, in the media, on the streets, on the Internet, at political demonstrations and in seemingly innocent social situations.
The Monster Among Usexamines
this wave of anti-Semitism against European Jews and
their institutions, mainly from the point of view of
those who have directly experienced the violence or live every day with the threat.
In recent conversations
with American Jews as well as non-Jews, it's surprising
how many are uninformed about the problem. Some have
heard about the violence in France, but most are totally
unaware of what's happening in the rest of Europe.
A powerful new documentary about teen and young adult depression and suicide - penetrating, personal stories of despair and hope told by the young people themselves and their families.
Josh, age 20, tried to jump off a bridge over a Dallas tollway. At 17, Haley swallowed 200 pills. And, at 22, Armekia cut herself repeatedly with a razor to relieve the pain.
The honesty and openness of these individuals bring us face to face with a mental illness that can result in the third-leading cause of death among 15-24 year olds.
"This poignant documentary adds a personal perspective to a major public health problem, highlighting that while there is a need for suicide prevention and intervention, current treatments for depression are promising & offer hope."

It is a tradition etched in the personal memories of millions. A place where many generations have come to gaze upon the world's tallest cowboy, to soar on North America's highest Ferris wheel and to consume the most exotic delacacies this side of the Rio Grande.
A documentary about the Great State Fair of Texas, A Fair To Remember captures the heart of Texas-big, spirited and brazenly proud!
Co-produced with Phillip Allen, the film features Texas native Barry Corbin (No Country For Old Men,One Tree Hill, Northern Exposure, Urban Cowboy), who lends his famous Texas drawl to the narration.
The original musical score by the Grammy Award-winning Texas legends Carl Finch & Brave Combo, and dazzling animation by Janimation (Spy Kids 2 & Spy Kids 3-D), add pizzazz to dramatic archival footage and personal recollections!
An insightful and very personal film that gives a voice to people who are struggling with learning disabilities. It was made by filmmaker Fonya Naomi Mondell, who also lives with learning differences.
She captures the personal stories of young people from all walks of life who discuss what it's like to live with attention deficit disorder and dyslexia. Their comments are open, honest and direct, and their determination to manage their conditions shines through.
